The T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education And Compensation Helps) Early Childhood® Scholarship Program funded by the Florida Division of Early Learning provides scholarships to early learning program teachers and directors, out-of-school-time professionals, family child care educators, and child care facility owners working toward early learning credentials, college credits and certificates, and degrees in early childhood education.
The T.E.A.C.H. Florida Program:
- Is part of a comprehensive national strategy helping address the need for a well-qualified, fairly compensated, and stable early learning workforce
- Works with nearly 60 training programs, colleges, and universities to help early educators expand their professional development and earn degrees
- Covers up to 90% tuition and books for participating scholars
- Provides a per-semester stipend that can help scholars cover school-related expenses, such as travel or internet access
- Gives financial bonuses and additional supports for educators and directors who complete their scholarship contracts
T.E.A.C.H. Florida Successes:
- Since 1998, more than 67,000 scholarships have been awarded to over 44,400 scholars
- The turnover rate for these T.E.A.C.H. Program scholars is less than 7 percent, compared to the national average of 30-40%
- Nearly 99% of scholars and sponsors state that they would recommend T.E.A.C.H. to others
- More than 596,200 young children across the state have benefited from their early learning programs participating in T.E.A.C.H.
